19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of that year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet defended 4 early break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
